Dima Hasao District Day to be celebrated today

Daylong event to include angling competition & exhibition of tourist attractions

GUWAHATI, Feb 1: Following the directives of the state government, the Dima Hasao district administration, in collaboration with the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, is gearing up to observe District Day on February 2, 2024. A vibrant rally is planned, starting from the Council Rotary Point to the NL Daulagupu Sports Complex at 9:00 am, with participants adorned in their traditional attire. All department heads have been instructed to join this rally along with their respective officials.

As part of the festivities, various departments will set up stalls for display and sale at the NL Daulagupu Sports Complex in Haflong. Concurrently, students will engage in competitions such as quizzes, essays, and debates at the District Library Auditorium, starting from 11:00 am.

Debolal Gorlosa, chief executive member (CEM) of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, is invited as the chief guest, and state minister for Sports & Youth Welfare, Power, Cooperation, etc., Nandita Gorlosa, will also grace the event. A central meeting is scheduled at 3:00 pm, discussing various aspects of the district, followed by an extravagant cultural program at the Tularam Amphitheatre at Haflong Lake. Notable achievements will be felicitated during the central program.

The day-long event will include an angling competition at Haflong Lake from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, organised jointly by the Tourism Department and the Fisheries Department. An exhibition cum display of photographs showcasing tourist attractions of Dima Hasao will be featured at the Tularam Amphitheatre.
