District ASHA conference held in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Feb 24: The Sivasagar District Commissioner, Mridul Yadav, on Tuesday, handed over cheques of Rs 2 lakh each as gratuity to five retired ASHA workers—Kanchan Baruah, Tagarmai Hazarika, Mithamai Konwar, Bidyut Phukan and Labanya Kalita at a meeting held in Milan Mandir.

Jt. Director of Medical and Health Services, Dr Makhan Kalita, delivered the welcome speech, lauding the ASHA workers’ contributions to improving health services.

Several ASHA workers, including Usha Ghatowar, Rupali Konwar, Simpy Begam, Rewati Bhumik, Ranamoni Gogoi, Minu Khanikar, Minakhi Mili, Junmoni Bori, Jyoti Barua, Kunja Barua, Bobita Bora, Bitali Bora, Bijaya Das, Minaxi Lahan, Bonti Gogoi, Ankita Tati, Minaxi Chetia and Alpona Barua were felicitated for their dedicated service.

Led by Chinu Bargohai, ASHA workers from the Geleki sector performed a chorus during the conference, which was chaired by Mridupawan Dutta. District Commissioner Yadav assured that grievances of ASHAs working in rural areas would be addressed soon.

Dr Biswajit Hazarika highlighted the commendable role of ASHAs in reducing maternal and child mortality.

The conference was attended by Additional Commissioner Minakshi Perme, Dr Rajiv Panging, Psychiatrist at Sivasagar Civil Hospital, Dr Rupam Barkatoki, Additional Joint Director of Dimow Model Hospital, Dr Arundhati Bora, Additional Superintendent of Police Rishav Hans and senior health officials.
