Biswanath Chariali, Aug 13: Dr Pranab Jyoti Chetia, the director of Jorhat Vigyan Kendra and Planetarium and a renowned scientist dedicated to popularising science, was commemorated during a meeting organised by Akash Vigyan Aru Paribesh Sikshya Kendra in Biswanath Chariali on Sunday. The meeting, presided over by Khiradhar Barua, an eminent scientist and the founder president of Akash Vigyan Aru Paribesh Sikshya Kendra, aimed to pay tribute to the legacy of Dr Chetia.
Addressing the gathering, president Barua highlighted the remarkable contributions made by the late scientist, Dr Pranab Jyoti Chetia, stating that his passing has created an irreplaceable void in the domain of science communication and fostering scientific awareness in the state. The memorial event witnessed speeches from Surjya Hazarika, Gajen Barua, Preety Barua, Mamud Ahmed, Shiva Parajuli, Akshay Barman, and Tikendrajit Bora, among others.
Ripunjay Bordoli, the secretary of Akash Vigyan Aru Paribesh Sikshya Kendra, conducted the proceedings of the memorial meeting, which served as a platform to acknowledge and celebrate the immense contributions of Dr Pranab Jyoti Chetia in promoting science education and raising scientific consciousness in the region.
