NAGAON, Dec 6: In a late-night operation on Tuesday near the Beloguri area, a police team from Rupahihat PS engaged in a fierce encounter with a notorious dacoit identified as Omar Farooq from Dakshin Khatowal Tarabari under Rupahihat PS. The operation resulted in the injury of the dacoit due to police firing.
Swiftly responding to the situation, the police admitted Omar Farooq to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital. After receiving preliminary treatment, he was subsequently referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Sources indicate that the injured dacoit sustained bullet injuries in both legs. During the operation, the police seized a handmade pistol and three rounds of live ammunition from his possession.
