BOKAJAN, Oct 29: Morphines worth Rs 15 crore were seized and two people were arrested from Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Saturday, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, officials under Dillai police station intercepted a car, bearing registration number UP 14 B V 4234, coming from Dimapur around 11:30 am in the morning. On conducting a thorough check of the vehicle, about 4 kg of morphine was recovered which was hidden in the back side of the vehicle.
In this connection two persons have been arrested and they have been identified as Hemkholal Lunkin (37), son of Paothang Lunkin, resident of Tollen village, district Churachandpur, Manipur and Jangminlal Haokip (38), son of Lt. Mangthang Haokip, resident of Saikul Bazaar under Saikul police station, district Kangpokpi, Manipur.
The market value of the drug was estimated to be around Rs 15 crore, an official said.
The seizure of the contraband was done under the physical supervision of SDPO, Bokajan, John Das. (With inputs from PTI)
