According to local residents of 3 No Makum Pathar, Margherita, the deceased, Sabina Kharia, was the third wife of accused Sanjib Santhal (known as Roga), a resident of 3 No Makum Pathar, Margherita. Sanjib killed her on Sunday night due to a family dispute. Notably, his former wives fled due to his regular domestic violence.

Local residents said that the accused regularly returned home after consuming liquor and would beat his wife black and blue. Unfortunately, on Sunday night, Sanjib Santhal hit Sabina Kharia very harshly, resulting in her death on the spot.

The local residents of 3 No Makum Pathar, Margherita, stated that the area has turned into a hub of drug abuse, liquor, and opium, where domestic violence occurs regularly in many households. Despite this, the Margherita sub-divisional administration officer and Margherita Police have failed to control these antisocial elements in 3 No Makum Pathar, Margherita.

Meanwhile, the deceased Sabina Kharia has been sent for post-mortem at Tinsukia Civil Hospital, and the accused Sanjib Santhal has been arrested by Margherita Police and sent to judicial custody as of the filing of this report.
