HOJAI, June 17: Along with the rest of the country, the holy festival of sacrifice, Eid-Ul-Zuha, also known as Eid-al-Adha, was celebrated with pomp and gaiety throughout the entire Hojai district on Monday.
Despite incessant rainfall over the past few days, the festivity was celebrated with high spirits. Thousands of Muslims joined the celebration of Eid-Ul-Zuha at mosques in Hojai, Nilbagan, Daboka, Udali, Jugijaan, Murajhar, Gopal Nagar, Kapasbari, Lanka, and Lumding. The namaaz began at 7:00 am.

During the namaaz, the Muslims prayed before the Almighty Allah to bless each and every human being with happiness, and for universal peace and harmony. Hojai markets were thronged with children from nearby areas enjoying the festivity by purchasing various food and sports items.
Talking to this correspondent, Basit Alom Chowdhury, president of Nilbagan Youth Association, said, “Eid festival is the symbol of peace, tranquility, and brotherhood.” He added, “We Muslims prayed to Almighty Allah for universal peace and happiness.”
Our Demow correspondent adds: The holy festival of Islam, Eid-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakr-Id, was celebrated in Demow on Monday. Muslims gathered at the Masjid in Demow Dehajan in the morning to offer prayers. They exchanged greetings and gifts to mark the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha.
