Eucharistic procession held to propagate faith by Catholic community

DIPHU, Nov 13: The Diphu diocese organised an annual Eucharistic celebration in order to propagate their faith by the Catholic community and also took out a Eucharist procession at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School playground here on Sunday, where thousands of the faithful including priests, nuns and brothers from different parishes of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and NC Hills took active part. There are 30 parishes under Diphu diocese.

A holy mass was celebrated which was officiated by Rt. Rev. Paul Mattekatt, Bishop of Diphu diocese. Rt. Rev. Mattekatt in his homily reminded the faithful about the end days that are to come and be prepared for the final judgment day. He asked the faithful to live a simpler life following the teaching of Christmas.

In the end days everyone will have to stand before God to give the accounts of what he/she had done on earth, he stated.

The Bishop also asked the faithful for a change of life for good deeds. After consecration the Holy Eucharist was distributed among the faithful by the priests.

A Eucharistic procession was taken out from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School playground via Diphu-Manja road to Taralangso gate to Rongjangphong, Rongtharve, Dhanubast and back to Rongkhelan.

The procession was led by the cross bearers followed by Karbi traditional drummers, troupes and faithful. Flower girls, priests and nuns move ahead the vehicle carrying the Holy Eucharist by Rt. Rev. Paul Mattekatt. During the procession the faithful sang songs from hymn books and chanted rosary. There were thousands of faithful participating in the procession to propagate their faith.

The Eucharistic procession ended with the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
