Farmer’s body found

NAGAON, April 8: The body of a farmer, identified as Rajen Bora of No 1 Jalah village near Nonoi outpost under Nagaon PS, was found at Jalah-Hahila bridge on Monday morning. On being informed by some locals, Nonoi Police rushed to the spot and recovered the farmer’s body lying on the bridge. Subsequently, police sent the mortal remains to Nagaon BP Civil Hospital for autopsy. Significantly, police also recovered an iron rod near the farmer’s body, sources said, adding that some marks of injuries were spotted on the deceased’s body, leading police and other locals to suspect it might be a murder case. The family of the deceased informed that the victim farmer went out on Sunday evening with someone, and since then, he has been missing. In the meantime, Nonoi Police detained one Pranjal Saikia, a local youth of the same village, in connection with the incident, and he was being questioned extensively until the time of filing this report, sources added.
