‘Fish Farming Is One Of The Most Profitable Activities’

DIPHU, March 15: Under the Regional Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) scheme for 2020-21 and 2021-22 funded by the World Bank, the Fishery Department, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) distributed Refrigerated Fish Transport Vehicles (three and four-wheelers) for transportation of fishes to beneficiaries here on Wednesday.

Attending as chief guest, the chief executive member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang along with executive members (EM), KAAC and Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) distributed the vehicles in a function held at Aquacentric Park here.

Altogether 8 three-wheeled auto-trucks and 2 pick-up trucks- Tata Yodha with refrigeration facility were distributed.

“Glad to be at the ceremonial distribution of Registered Fish Transport Vehicles (4 Wheeler) under RIDF-XXVI, 2020-21 & Fish Transport Vehicles (3 Wheeler) under RIDF- XXVI, 2021-22 at Aquacentric Park, Diphu. I flagged off the first run with @LektheMadhuram, EM, i/c Fishery Dept,” the chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Tuliram Ronghang said in a social media post.

The EM, KAAC for Fisheries; Handloom & Textiles and Adult Education, Madhuram Lekthe on the occasion said, “Under RIDF scheme for 2020-21 and 2021-22 funded by the World Bank the Fishery Department has distributed pick-up trucks and three-wheeled auto trucks to beneficiaries for fish transportation.”

He further said, “The government has been giving facilities to people through various schemes and more will be implemented. Fish farming is one of the most profitable activities. The fish farmers can approach officials and experts from the Fishery Department for advice on the methods of fish rearing.”
