Food Poisoning Incidents in Assam: One Woman Dead, Dozens Hospitalized

Guwahati, May 30: In a tragic incident of food poisoning, a woman named Lakshmimani Orang from Mathurapur in the Sivasagar district of Assam has died. Lakshmimani fell critically ill after consuming poisonous mushrooms and passed away while undergoing treatment.

In a separate incident in South Kamrup’s Sarpara, around 40 individuals are currently receiving medical care for food poisoning. The victims fell ill after consuming Prasad during a local Naam Kirtan event. Among those affected is a critically ill child who has been transferred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.

Both incidents have highlighted the urgent need for food safety awareness and prompt medical response in the region.
