DIPHU, Nov 14: Former executive member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Ratan Teron has been appointed as the chairman of Diphu Development Authority (DDA) by the department of Housing & Urban Affairs, Govt. of Assam. Teron assumed charge as the chairman of DDA in his chamber at the office of Town & Country Planning here on Monday.
After assuming charge as the chairman of DDA, Teron said, “I have been appointed the Chairman of DDA by the Governor of Assam under the Department of Housing & Urban Development. There are many schemes under Housing & Urban Affairs for development of urban areas and I will take up schemes for development of Diphu town.”

He also said compared to other towns of the three Sixth Autonomous districts in Assam, viz. NC Hills, Karbi Anglong and Kokrajhar, Diphu town has now become the most advanced in terms of development. The name of Diphu town is known in other districts and states as a fast developing town and is now attracting people, the new chairman claimed.
The first chairman of DDA was the present MLA Bidyasing Engleng, then Mukul Chandra Baruah and then Longki Rongpi. Teron is the fourth chairman of DDA.
He expressed gratitude to the chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma; president of BJP Assam Pradesh, Bhapesh Kalita and minister for Housing & Urban Development, Ashok Singhal and chief executive member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang for appointing him as the chairman of DDA.
After assuming the chair, several party members and people of Diphu town felicitated Teron.
