JORHAT, Sept 29: Nathmal Kalani, a respected former ward commissioner of Jorhat Municipal Board from Ward number 6 and a prominent figure in the field of social work, peacefully departed due to age-related ailments at his residence in Marwari Patty on Thursday.

At the age of 88, Kalani is survived by his wife, four sons, a daughter, and a large extended family. His life was marked by active involvement in various social, religious, and trade organisations.
The final rites in his memory were solemnly conducted at the Garmur Cremation Ground in Jorhat on Friday.
