KOKRAJHAR, March 15: Ahead of the Assembly elections, the UPPL party has faced a major setback across the districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
On Sunday, a joining ceremony was held at Deepalaibil in the newly formed Baokhungri Assembly constituency of Kokrajhar district in the presence of BPF MCLA Dhaneswar Goyary and under the chairmanship of Baokhungri TCLCC president Kamaleswar Boro.
At the event, former TCLCC chairman of the UPPL government in Baokhungri constituency, Sanjoy Narzary, along with 150 UPPL leaders and workers, formally joined the BPF party led by Hagrama Mohilary.
The joining of Sanjoy Narzary, a former central treasurer of ABSU and an influential leader from Baokhungri constituency, after leaving the UPPL has created a major political setback for the UPPL party led by Pramod Boro ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
It may be mentioned that Sanjoy Narzary told the media that although he had worked tirelessly to strengthen the UPPL party base and organisation in Baokhungri constituency, he did not receive proper importance from the party leadership. Because of this, he decided to leave the UPPL and join the BPF party.
