Foundation stone laid for four road projects

JORHAT, July 14: Union Minister of State for Textiles and External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, on Monday laid the foundation stone for the construction of four roads in the Titabar sub-division of Jorhat district.

The projects are being implemented under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF)-XXX for the financial year 2024–25.

The proposed infrastructure includes a 2.5-kilometre-long road in the Madhabpur Tea Estate, known as Pokaline Road, with a sanctioned cost of ₹173.2 lakh.

Three additional roads will be constructed across the Borholla Tea Estate at a combined estimated cost of ₹104.19 lakh.

These include a 930-metre road at Number 1 Munda Line, Kolapani Bagan; a 250-metre stretch at Number 3 Baganline, Kolapani Bagan; and a 160-metre road at Kolapani Kulai Bagan.

Officials said these road projects form part of a wider plan to enhance rural infrastructure in tea-growing regions.

Under the RIDF-XXX scheme for 2024–25, a total of 63 roads spanning 42.065 kilometres will be constructed across 34 tea garden areas within the Titabar Assembly constituency.

The cumulative cost of these projects has been pegged at ₹3,043.03 lakh.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (AIIDC) Chairman and Jorhat district BJP president Santanu Puzari, Chief Executive Member of the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council (TKAC) Kumud Kachari, TKAC Chairman Pratap Kachari, and senior officials from the Jorhat district administration and police department.
