Funeral of UPPL leader Rajen Boro performed in Udalguri

KOKRAJHAR, March 27: The funeral of noted social activist and senior UPPL party leader of Bhergaon district committee, Rajen Boro was performed on Thursday amidst the congregation of various party leaders, workers and citizens at his native Gopipur Kachubil in Udalguri district.

Notably, Boro underwent for a dental surgery treatment in New Delhi on March 22 after suffering dental tumor, and since post surgery his health condition deteriorated, and breathed his last on Tuesday evening (March 25).

The body of late Boro reached at his native Gopipur Kachubil village late last evening, and his funeral was performed on Thursday morning.

Boro was the president of the Bhergaon district committee of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party.

He was hailed from Gopipur village under Paneri police station in Udalguri district.

He was an active social worker and popularly well known amongst the citizens for active involvement in the social uplift and development in his locality.

He was former president of the Paneri anchalik committee ABSU, and former convenor of the PCDR of Bhergaon district committee in 2015, and held several positions of UPPL party besides CWC member of the party till his death.

He was also recipient of 1st Bijoy Krishna Handique Memorial Award for Leadership in Wildlife Conservation in 2017, being conferred by Development Foundation of Assam.

The ruling UPPL party has observed a one-day mourning day on Thursday with hoisting the party flag at half-mask in all blocks, primary, district committees across the entire region in respect of untimely demise of Rajen Boro, president of Bhergaon district committee of UPPL party.

Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, and UPPL president attended the condolences ceremony and paid his last respect by paying floral tributes to late Rajen Boro at his Gopipur Kachubil residence.

CEM Boro was accompanied by UPPL general secretaries Raju Kumar Narzary, Madhab Chandra Chetry, BTR executive members Daobaisa Boro,Nilut Swargiary,and several senior party leaders of UPPL party.

ABSU president Dipen Boro, various social organisation leaders and members attended the funeral and paid last respects by paying floral tributes to late Rajen Boro.

CEM Pramod Boro recalled contributions of late Rajen Boro who was a popular social worker and dedicated party leader in the district.

He stated that UPPL party loss a great leader with his untimely demise.

“I pay my heartfelt tributes to Late Rajen Boro, President of Bhergaon District Committee, UPPL, at a condolence ceremony today. A dedicated party worker of UPPL, he was greatly loved and admired by all for his hard work and commitment to our party’s founding principles. He was also the recipient of the 1st Bijoy Krishna Handique Memorial Award for Leadership in Wildlife Conservation, awarded by the Development Foundation of Assam in 2017. In this hour of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with his bereaved family. The UPPL Family stands with them, praying for eternal peace for the departed soul,” Boro said.
