GUWAHATI, April 4: National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, has invited Gauhati University vice chancellor Prof Pratap Jyoti Handique as a resource person to NAAC Manthan program which was being organised by the Raj Bhavan, Lucknow on Monday and Tuesday. The participants of the program are the vice chancellors of Indian universities and chairpersons of NAAC Peer Teams. Professor Handique will deliberate on three criteria (1, 2, and 3) of NAAC assessment and accreditation process (A/A). It is to be mentioned that only four vice chancellors of “A” grade universities including Professor Handique from Gauhati University are selected and invited as resource persons by NAAC. In recent times, NAAC has infused a new spirit into its processes of assessment and accreditation. This has been attempted as a continuance of the NAAC’s concern for ensuring that its A/A processes are in tune with the needs and changes in the local, regional and global scenario of higher education. The mandate of NAAC is to make quality assurance as a vital part of the functioning of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and to motivate them to build a strong quality culture within. Inclusion of Professor Handique as resource person in NAAC manthan program is considered as a notable honour to Gauhati University.
