SIVASAGAR, Jan 18: MP Gaurav Gogoi on Saturday said that he had accurately predicted that the BJP was not interested in holding panchayat elections in the state as it lacked the courage to face the rural folk whom it had dishonoured.
Gogoi was referring to the pre-election commitments to give ten thousand to each sapling planted and the money committed to the Lakhpati baideus.
The BJP party is desperately searching for candidates for fielding in the constituencies as the party is running short of new faces, he added.
Gogoi, while addressing the media in Betbari near here, said that the Congress party kept its doors open for negotiation with other parties for pre-poll alliance and it would exert maximum pressure on the government to hold Panchayat elections as early as possible.
