Guv encourages youth to focus on skill development and entrepreneurship

MORIGAON, Sept 9: The Youth Conference 2.0 held at Mayang Regional College in Morigaon district
culminated with the esteemed presence of Governor Gulab Chand Kataria. The event was organised in
collaboration with the Assam Skill Development Mission-North East Skill Centre, Shiksha Shiksha
Parishad Foundation, Assam, and the NSS Cell of Gauhati University, under the theme “Skill
Development of Youth for Building Self-Reliant India”.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Kataria emphasised the importance of skilling India’s vast youth
population. He highlighted that India is renowned for its significant youth demographic and that it is a
collective responsibility to provide them with the necessary skills. He stressed that change brings new
opportunities and that the younger generation possesses the potential to drive transformative change
for the betterment of the nation.
The Governor urged young individuals to shift their mindset from seeking government jobs to actively
creating employment opportunities. He underlined the pivotal role that youth play in shaping society
and their unique contribution to nation-building. Emphasising the need to enhance their skillsets, he
encouraged young people to become active partners in the nation’s development.
Governor Kataria advised students to recognize their individual skills and make the most of every
moment without prejudging the size or significance of their work. He expressed his belief that if
everyone in society fulfills their responsibilities in building the country, India can soon become a global
leader.
The event featured key dignitaries including Ankur Jain, director of Assam Skill Development Mission;
Devayani Chowdhury, district development commissioner; Professor Neelima Bhagwati, International
Secretary General of Teachers’ Education Council Foundation; Dr Mahananda Bora, principal of Mayang
Regional College; Dr Ranjan Kumar Kakati from the NSS Cell of Gauhati University; as well as officials
from the district administration, teachers, and students.
The Youth Conference served as a platform to inspire and guide young individuals towards skill
development, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance, aligning with India’s goal of empowering its youth to
contribute to the nation’s growth and development.
