GUWAHATI, Jan 3: Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati witnessed a notable increase in passenger traffic and flight operations during 2023. The airport handled approximately 5.6 million passengers, marking a significant rise from the 4.6 million recorded in 2022. Among these, about 2.9 million were arriving passengers, and 2.7 million were departing passengers.
In terms of aircraft movements, Guwahati Airport managed about 46,600 flights in 2023, indicating an increase of 5,600 flights compared to the previous year. The arrivals and departures were evenly distributed, with approximately 23,300 aircraft arriving and the same number departing.
The airport introduced new domestic connections to Jaipur and Bhubaneswar in 2023, while the sole international addition was the connectivity to Bangkok.
The highest single-day passenger count in 2023 occurred on December 24, reaching 19,290 passengers. This remarkable growth reflects the airport’s increasing role as a key hub in the region.
