Speaking to the media, Hojai Superintendent of Police (SP) Saurabh Gupta stated, “Hojai Police’s mission against illicit drugs is ongoing. Based on reliable intelligence, we intercepted a consignment of heroin en route from outside the state via the Barak Valley, destined for Nagaon in Central Assam.”
He further added, “We had received input about a planned exchange of drugs in the Hojai-Murajhar area. Accordingly, police set up naka-bandis (checkpoints) at specific points on NH-27. The operation led to the successful arrest of two individuals and the recovery of a substantial quantity of heroin.”
