MARGHERITA, Jan 5: Dilapidated condition of roads and bridges in Makum Pathar Gaon Panchayat in Margherita co-district has brought the administration under scanner.
A field visit to the area revealed that only a portion of the road in 3 number Makum Pathar has been constructed, while the rest remains undeveloped.
Local residents have complained that travelling on this road, especially during the rainy season has turned extremely difficult for students and villagers.
A bridge in the area collapsed two years ago due to use of substandard quality materials, local residents alleged.
The residents of Makum Pathar Gaon Panchayat have now appealed to the Margherita co-district commissioner, chairman of Tinsukia Zilla Parishad, Margherita development block officer, Margherita Anchalik Panchayat president and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to conduct impartial enquiry against the representative of makum pathar gaon panchayat and other officials who were involved in large scale alleged corruption.
