GUWAHATI, April 21: IIT Guwahati’s annual techno-management fest, Techniche, was officially launched on Thursday in Guwahati. This year, the youth festival is being organised in partnership with UNICEF Assam. The theme for the youth festival will be child protection, and the first initiative, the Guwahati Half Marathon will be held on April 24.

Speaking about the theme for this year’s annual festival Sai Sumanth Madicherla, vice-president, Student Gymkhana IIT Guwahati said, “The impact of Covid-19 has been severe on many vulnerable communities, especially children. And one of the impacts has been the violation of children’s rights due to violence, neglect, abuse, and exploitation, among others. Starting with the marathon, we will be launching a campaign called #Youth4Suraksha, with the objective of young people demanding accountability for the protection of children in Assam and India.”

The Guwahati Half Marathon 2022 will be the first of a series of initiatives to prevent violence and abuse faced by the children, urging people to run for the cause to support the youth for taking social actions against it.

“A confluence of some of the most logical and technically proficient brains from around the world, an event organised by some of the most passionate about technology IITians, Techniche is all about showing your caliber, appreciating and respecting the metal in your opponent,” said Priyanshu Choudhary, convener, Techniche 2022.
