JORHAT, June 11: The Jorhat district commissioner Pulak Mahanta chaired a meeting of the District Task Force at the conference hall of the DC’s office complex on Monday to review the measures undertaken for the prevention and control of dengue, malaria, Japanese encephalitis (JE), and acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) in the district.
The DC called for intensifying awareness drives regarding preventive steps to be undertaken across the district, especially in vulnerable areas, to prevent the spread of these diseases. He also asked the concerned authorities to carry out other related activities.
Mahanta directed that fogging, cleaning of drains, maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene, and identifying places that could be sources of mosquito breeding should be undertaken regularly.
The DC further instructed the concerned authorities to carry out preventive activities in educational institutes and tea garden areas. He also emphasised that the places where mid-day meals for school students are cooked and served should maintain proper cleanliness and hygiene.
Officials of the district administration, Health department, several other related departments, and functionaries of civic bodies attended the meeting. Health officials gave a PowerPoint presentation on the current scenario of these diseases in the district.
