DIPHU, April 20: Two RTI activists Podmo Teron and Hemphu Engti have alleged the involvement of executive member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Health & Family Welfare, Khonsing Rongpi in an alleged job scam in the office of joint director of Health Services, Karbi Anglong and cancellation of the appointments.

Engti and Teron staged a protest in front of KAAC entrance gate on the said illegal appointment here on Wednesday.

Teron said that in 2019 when Dr. Kareng Rongpipi was the joint director of Health Services, an advertisement was given to fill-up 14 Grade III and Grade IV posts in the office of joint director of Health Services, Karbi Anglong. But surprisingly the appointment was not on merit basis. Candidates from within the family members of EM Rongpi and close relatives were preferred.

“Through RTI information we have come to know that those candidates securing lowest marks in the written examination got appointed, while those with the highest marks were deprived. A few of the candidates with fake pharmacy certificates also got appointed,” Teron claimed.

Teron also said, “Some non-ST candidates from Golaghat have come to appear for the interview and also got appointed as nurses. How can non-ST candidates from general districts apply for Government jobs in the ST reserved district in Karbi Anglong,” Teron said.

Teron said EM Rongpi is involved in the ‘job scam’. The EM is not saying anything on the issue. The EM should cancel the appointments and resign from his EM post.
