GUWAHATI, Sept 25: The Kamakhya Station under the Lumding division and New Tinsukia Station under the Tinsukia division of NF Railway have been awarded ‘Eat Right Station’ certifications by FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) in recognition of facilitating high-quality, nutritious food for passengers. These stations have qualified under the guidelines established by FSSAI, becoming the 9th and 10th railway stations in NF Railway to receive this status. These certifications are valid from September 12, 2024, to September 11, 2026, for both stations.

Furthermore, in its endeavour to ensure safe and hygienic food for passengers, NF Railway has planned to include more stations in the future to qualify as ‘Eat Right Stations’ by FSSAI, with necessary efforts already underway. Previously, Guwahati, Harishchandrapur, Lumding, Rangiya, Mariani, Samsi, New Bongaigaon, and New Jalpaiguri Railway Stations of NF Railway were awarded ‘Eat Right Station’ certifications by FSSAI.

It is worth mentioning that the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification is granted by FSSAI to railway stations that adhere to standard food storage and hygiene practices. This certification is awarded following an audit by an FSSAI-empanelled third-party agency, recognising stations that set benchmarks in providing safe and wholesome food to passengers.

The certification is part of the ‘Eat Right India’ movement, a large-scale effort by FSSAI to transform the country’s food system to ensure safe, healthy, and sustainable food for all Indians.
