GUWAHATI, Oct 26: In recognition of their commitment to providing high-quality and nutritious food to passengers, the Harishchandrapur and Lumding Railway Stations of N. F. Railway have achieved the prestigious ‘Eat Right Station’ certification from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). These stations are the second and third, respectively, in N. F. Railway to receive this status, following the Guwahati Railway Station. The certification is valid from October 19, 2023, to October 18, 2025.

As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure safe and hygienic food for passengers, N. F. Railway plans to expand this initiative to more stations in the future. Rangiya, Tinsukia, Alipurduar Junction, and Katihar are among the stations being considered for ‘Eat Right Station’ certification, with the necessary preparations already underway. Guwahati Railway Station of N. F. Railway had previously received the ‘Eat Right Station’ certification, which is valid from June 2, 2023, to June 2, 2025.

The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification is bestowed by FSSAI to railway stations that consistently adhere to food storage and hygiene standards. It is awarded to stations that set exemplary standards in providing safe and wholesome food to passengers. The certification is the result of an audit conducted by a third-party agency accredited by FSSAI.

This certification is part of the ‘Eat Right India’ movement, a nationwide initiative by FSSAI aimed at transforming the food system in the country to ensure safe, healthy, and sustainable food for all Indians. It reflects the commitment of these railway stations to serving quality food to passengers.
