The troupe, comprising 12 artistes along with officials, is led by Executive Member Surya Rongphar (Art & Culture, KAAC), Tribal Culture Research Officer Dilip Kathar, and KTMCRI Principal Bonsam Kathar.
Members of the Karbi Cultural Society including General Secretary Sunil Tokbi, Publicity Secretary Hingchong Tisso, and Office Secretary Suren Hanse are also part of the team.
The group will perform a ten-minute medley of traditional Karbi dances reflecting agrarian life and daily activities in the hills.
Performances will include Ritnong Chingdi (cultivation dance), Han-Up Ahi Kebi (community bamboo shoot collection dance), Lengpum Sokchon (paddy pounding dance), and Hacha Kekan (post-harvest dance), giving international audiences and judges a glimpse into the rich heritage and resilience of Karbi culture.
This morning, Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang flagged off the cultural troupe, wishing them success and appreciating the Art & Culture Department’s initiative in taking Karbi traditions to the global stage.
EM Surya Rongphar emphasised that the participation will help promote the identity, culture, and traditions of the Karbi tribe worldwide, highlighting their vibrant heritage to an international audience.
