DIPHU, Sept 10: Richard Tokbi, the Executive Member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council
(KAAC) for Education, inaugurated a 100-bed girls hostel at Deithor Higher Secondary School, known as
Kastuba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV).
During the inauguration, EM Tokbi expressed his gratitude to Tuliram Ronghang, the chief executive
member (CEM) of KAAC, for allocating this scheme to his constituency. He highlighted how this hostel
would significantly benefit girls coming from different places who are pursuing their education in various
institutions across the Deithor area.
EM Tokbi also advised the students to maintain discipline and focus on their studies. He emphasized
that parents should be conscious of their children’s activities and ensure they do not engage in negative
habits like alcohol consumption, smoking, chewing pan masala, or drug use. He urged students to make
the most of their time for studies, recognizing the financial sacrifices made by their parents for their
education. Tokbi encouraged students to spend their time wisely on their academic pursuits and avoid
unnecessary distractions such as recreation centers and picnics.
The inaugural event was attended by various dignitaries, including Sarkoi Rongphar, the VDC chairman;
Nirupama Timungpi, joint secretary of KAAC; Birensing Engti, Inspector of Schools for Karbi Anglong
