GUWAHATI, June 17: Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) on Wednesday launched a three-day meditation and yoga programme at its Khanapara City Campus to promote physical, mental and emotional well-being among employees.
The programme, being organised by the Mother Teresa Social Welfare Mission of the university, will continue from June 17 to 19.
The inaugural session was opened by senior-most professor of the university, Dr Nripendra Narayan Sarma.
The first day’s programme focused on the theme “Yoga for Stress Management and Workplace Wellness”.
The session began with a prayer and introductory remarks, followed by discussions on the role of yoga in maintaining health and enhancing workplace productivity.
Participants were introduced to Sukshma Vyayama (joint-loosening exercises) and practised yoga postures such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Ardha Chakrasana and Kati Chakrasana.
The programme also featured deep-breathing exercises, Anulom Vilom pranayama and guided meditation techniques aimed at reducing stress, improving concentration and promoting overall well-being.
An interactive feedback session was held at the end of the programme, allowing participants to share their experiences and observations.
According to the organisers, the initiative seeks to encourage healthy lifestyles, improve workplace wellness, promote postural awareness and help employees incorporate simple yoga practices into their daily routines.
University employees actively participated in the session and appreciated the opportunity to learn practical techniques for stress management and personal well-being. The remaining sessions will focus on advanced yoga and meditation practices with the objective of fostering a healthier, more balanced and productive work environment.
