TEZPUR, Oct 28: The Lions Club of Tezpur Greater, in association with Guwahati Lions Eye Hospital, organised a free eye screening camp at Bahumukhi Sanskritik Sansthan, Durga Mandir Campus, Saikia Chuburi on Tuesday.
Over 100 people from Saikia Chuburi and nearby areas were screened for cataract, blood pressure and blood sugar. A total of 28 patients were diagnosed with cataract.
The Club, in collaboration with the hospital, will provide free transportation, meals, accommodation and surgery for all cataract patients. The group is scheduled to travel to Guwahati on 12th November, with surgeries completed and patients returning to Tezpur by 14th November 2025.
The camp was initiated by Anuva Saikia of Saikia Chuburi and managed by Lions Sanjeev Pradhan, Bhaskar Hazarika and Abdul Rahman, with support from Bahumukhi Sanskritik Sansthan members. Lions Club president Rajiv Jain expressed gratitude to all contributors, saying the initiative reflects their commitment to restoring vision for those in needs.
