GUWAHATI, Sept 25: Lions Club of Guwahati city organised a mega ‘Lions Hat Bazar’ on Friday at Dharapur, Jain Bhawan in association with Lions Club of Guwahati Times and Lions Club of Guwahati Global with support from Acharya Tulsi Mahashraman Research Foundation (ATMRF).
It is a unique project of Lions Club where they distributed clothes, bedsheets, other household materials, etc., to more than 3000 people.
Earlier in the morning, the project was inaugurated by the district governor Lion B S Rathod in the presence of second vice district governor Lion Seema Goenka, first lady Lion Lekha Rathod, president of ATMRF Dagaji, project chairman Lion Sanoj Agarwala, district GMT co-ordinator Manoj Bhajanka, president Lion Dipika Agarwal, Lion Manish Jalan and Lion Basant Agarwal.
District governor and Lion B S Rathod while inaugurating the project praised the efforts of the club members. He also appreciated the hard work of project chairman Lion Sanoj Agarwala. The club felicitated all the Lion district dignitaries and members of the society who were present.
President of Guwahati City Lion Dipika Agarwala informed that the planning for this project started almost three months back under the chairmanship of Lion Sanoj Agarwala. She said that project chairman Lion Sanoj Agarwala and his wife Lion Nisha Agarwala continuously worked for the last three months and collected all the clothes and household goods from various donors all across the city and segregated the materials based on size and use.
The club has distributed a free coupon called ‘Lion Currency’ to the needy people in and around the Dharapur area. This currency can be used by the people to buy products of their choice and need.
At the venue of the project, there were twelve stalls and whoever visited the project were able to buy items using the ‘Lion Currency’.
The project chairman said that this way people can buy items of their own choice and need with dignity.
Many members of the club and associate clubs were present during the project.
