TEZPUR, April 4: Bhasha Sahitya Sanskriti Addhyan Mancha, IQAC, and Women Cell of Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College, Dhekiajuli, organised an eight-day folk dance workshop on Jhumur, Bwisagu, Deusi, and Bihu, aiming to provide an opportunity for learning varied dance forms to the students of the college.
The workshop was formally inaugurated on Wednesday by Dr Jogendra Saikia, president, Governing Body, Lokanayak Omeo Kumar Das College, who urged the students to utilise this opportunity to learn the dance forms of different communities of the state.
Dr Sukdev Adhikari, principal of LOKD College, spoke briefly on the occasion and expressed hope that similar kinds of programs would be initiated in the near future with greater ambiance to meet the interests of the students. The inaugural program was attended by the faculty, students, and resource persons.
After the inaugural session, resource persons Bhadreswar Rajowar and Sabita Rajowar provided preliminary training with a practical session accompanied by musicians. Hundreds of participants enthusiastically participated in the workshop on the inaugural day program.
