Guwahati, May 20: In a significant crackdown on drug smuggling at Guwahati Railway Station on Monday, authorities seized six kilograms of cannabis and four packets of brown sugar, apprehending two individuals, including a juvenile, in the process.
In the first bust, officials acted on a tip-off and detained a juvenile, uncovering six kilograms of cannabis in his possession. The minor had planned to smuggle the marijuana and was intercepted by the police just as he was about to board a train to Bengaluru.
In a separate incident on the same day, authorities apprehended another individual attempting to smuggle suspected heroin. These operations mark two successful drug interdictions within a single day at Guwahati Railway Station, underscoring the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
