Mascot ‘Amulya’ unveiled to promote higher voter turnout

MORIGAON, March 19: In a vibrant initiative to inspire greater electoral participation, the Election Branch of Morigaon with support from the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Cell, organised an engaging voter awareness programme on Thursday at Motiram Bora Udyan in Morigaon town. The event aimed to motivate citizens and enhance voter turnout through creative public outreach.

A major highlight of the programme was the unveiling of a voter awareness mascot titled “Amulya”, designed using the EVM symbol to emphasise the value of every vote. On the occasion, the campaign slogan “Amaar Vote Amulya Vote” was also launched, along with the event logo and a theme song, adding colour and energy to the drive.

The programme was anchored by Mayong Revenue Circle Officer and Nodal Officer, SVEEP Cell, Priyanka Gogoi. Addressing the gathering, District Commissioner Anamika Tewari urged citizens to actively participate in the democratic process, stressing that voting is both a constitutional right and a responsibility. She also appealed to first-time voters to come forward and help shape the nation’s future through responsible voting.

She further informed that coloured photographs of contesting candidates will be displayed on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the first time, making candidate identification easier for voters.

The programme was attended by District Development Commissioner Orpah Baglari, Additional District Commissioner (Election) Anusuya Sharma, Additional District Commissioner Rakesh Deka, officials of the district administration and a large gathering of citizens.
