DONGKAMUKAM, Dec 4: A mass joining programme was held on Thursday at Amtuk Apam village, a remote and underdeveloped area under the Amreng MAC constituency in West Karbi Anglong, approximately 44 km from Dongkamukam. The hilly region, largely accessible only via dusty kutcha roads unsuitable even for bikes, witnessed a significant political shift as around 250 voters switched their support to the ruling saffron party.
The area, comprising eight sparsely populated villages has historically seen support for APHLC and Congress. The programme was attended by KAAC leaders, including Dr Tuliram Ronghang, CEM of KAAC, who served as the chief guest. Dr Ronghang assured the villagers of comprehensive development projects after the upcoming Assembly elections, including schools, Rongker sheds, bridges over the Am-ih river, open stages, medical centres and motorable roads.

He requested the villagers to exercise patience for five to six months, assuring that “cent percent development will take place after the Assembly election.” Dr Ronghang also cautioned villagers against opposition propaganda, stating that misleading narratives may be circulated by rival parties in the run-up to the polls.
The joining event was attended by local KAAC leaders, MAC and EM representatives including Rina Terangpi, Pawan Kr Ray and Rongphar Board Chairman, among others. The programme underscored the ruling party’s efforts to consolidate support in remote constituencies ahead of elections while promising targeted developmental initiatives.
