KOKRAJHAR, June 10: Cabinet Minister for Transport and Welfare of Bodoland Department and Guardian Minister of Baksa, Charan Boro, reviewed the progress of key government schemes and ongoing development initiatives in the district at a review meeting held at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Mushalpur on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by MLA Thaneswar Basumatary, MLA Maneswar Brahma, BTC Executive Members Begum Aktara and Augustus Tigga, BTC MCLAs Diganta Goyary and Rekha Rani Das Boro and Baksa Deputy Commissioner Kimnei Changsan, IAS, along with Additional Deputy Commissioners, Circle Officers, Heads of Departments and other concerned officials.
The meeting began with the Guardian Minister holding an introductory interaction with district officials. Boro reviewed major developmental and welfare schemes in the district.
He also took stock of the implementation of flagship government schemes, including Orunodoi and the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA).
Development initiatives under programmes such as Asom Darshan and the Vibrant Village Programme were also reviewed during the meeting.
During the review of the district’s flood preparedness, the Guardian Minister assessed the readiness of vulnerable and flood-prone areas, availability of relief measures, preparedness for ex-gratia assistance and arrangements for emergency response.
He also enquired about the availability of highlands for animals and the preparedness of the Veterinary Department to safeguard livestock during flood situations.
The meeting further reviewed issues relating to human-elephant conflict and discussed mitigation measures, including solar electric fencing, bio-fencing and plantation activities. The status of roads, building infrastructure, transport services and healthcare delivery in the district was also examined.
Addressing the officials, Minister Boro said that he would conduct regular review meetings to monitor the progress of developmental activities and government schemes in the district. He also informed that he would undertake field visits across the district in the coming days to assess the ground-level implementation of various schemes and development works. The Deputy Commissioner and departmental officials apprised the Guardian Minister of the progress of ongoing projects, key challenges and the measures being undertaken to address district-specific issues.
