KOKRAJHAR, March 3: In a significant move to provide financial support to members of self-help groups (SHGs) statewide, a ceremony was held at the Kokrajhar Municipal Board Office complex in Kokrajhar on Sunday for the ceremonial distribution of application forms under the state government’s flagship scheme, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan – Nogoria, within the Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB) areas. This scheme aims to empower SHG members, particularly urban women, to become entrepreneurs and enhance their socio-economic status and living conditions.
The government’s focus on promoting the welfare and development of SHG members in society has been underscored through initiatives like this. Kokrajhar East LAC MLA, Lawrence Islary, graced the event and distributed application forms to SHG members from urban areas in the presence of officials and ward commissioners.
Under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan – Nogoria scheme, 2.5 lakh women in urban municipal areas will receive assistance of Rs 10,000 each as entrepreneurship funds. In Kokrajhar, 2,500 SHG members across 10 wards under the Kokrajhar municipality area stand to benefit from this scheme.
The distribution of forms began on Sunday and will continue until March 5 at the Kokrajhar Municipality Board office complex. Completed forms will be collected on March 9, 10, and 11. MLA Islary commended the government’s dedication to promoting women’s economic independence and entrepreneurship across the state through the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan – Nogoria. He praised both the state government and the BTR government for initiating this venture and fostering an encouraging environment for women’s empowerment.
