Guwahati, Aug 23: Taking forward the State Government’s attempt to establish 15,000 model anganwadi centres across the State by 2026, chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday dedicated a model anganwadi centre at Ranghmahal in North Guwahati.
This Rangmahal Athgaon anganwadi centre under Chandrapur Karara Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) has been constructed involving an outlay of Rs. 25 lakh which will be working to develop intellectual, physical, emotional and academic health of the children.
It may be noted that the chief minister as a part of establishing 15,000 model anganwadi centres, inaugurated nearly 1,000 model anganwadi centres at a central ceremony in Palashbari on August 14.
The chief minister during his visit to North Guwahati on Tuesday also paid a visit to Rangmahal High School and inspected the construction of the new building of the school. He asked the concerned agency to complete the work before the new scholastic session ensuring adequate construction quality. Once completed the building will enable hundreds of the school students to receive education sitting in good quality class rooms, the chief minister said.
Dr. Sarma also visited Sri Sri Dirgheswari Devalaya, an archaeological site on the North Bank of the Brahmaputra and offered his puja for the wellbeing of the people of the State. The chief minister also announced Rs. 50 lakh for Bhog Ghar of the Devalaya.
The chief minister also paid a visit to the residence of late Prafulla Burhagohain, a retired veterinary doctor and social worker, in North Guwahati and interacted with the bereaved family members. He said that his death was a huge loss to the society and prayed for his moksha. He also visited the residence of Rajat Deka, a veteran social worker who died recently. He also spent time with the bereaved family members.
