Morigaon prepares for Khel Maharan

MORIGAON, Oct 30: Preparation for Khel Maharan to be
held across the state nears completion in Morigaon.
The Khel Maharan will be held at Charaibahi Ancholik Sports’
Association ground, Khirod Barua Stadium and Bhurbandha
Regional Sports Association ground in Morigaon
constituency.
For Laharighat constituency, the big tournament will be held
at Kushtali Ground, Nij Gerua Ground and Rajiv Gandhi Sports
Complex. For Jagiroad constituency, the tournament will be
held at Jagi Higher Secondary School ground, Na-Khola
Regional Ground and Ahatguri Ground.
The district level competitions will be held at Khirod Barua
Stadium and  Morigaon Higher Secondary and Multipurpose
School.
The district commissioner Devashis Sarma and district Sports’
officer Chandan Talukdar appealed people to co-operate with
district administration for making the Khel Maharan a great
success.
The event is organised by the Government of Assam with the
aim of encouraging sports talents from the grassroots level
and honing their talents. The Khel Maharan will be held in
five sports categories namely athletics (100m, 200m, 400m
and 800m), Football, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Kho-Kho. The
competitors are divided into four age categories: Under 19
(Male), Under 19 (Female), Over 19 (Male), and Over 19
(Female). The games will be held at several levels from
grassroots to state level. The finals will be held at the state
level after the games are held at the gram panchayat and
municipal level, assembly constituency level and district level.

The Khel Maharan will commence from November 1 to
November 15.
