NAGAON, Jan 4: In Batadroba near Nagaon, a successful Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) on beautician techniques for women Self-Help Group (SHG) members concluded recently. The two-week training, sponsored by NABARD and conducted by the implementing agency Gramya Unnayan Sangstha, aimed to enhance the skillsets of over 30 women from the greater Batadroba areas.
Master trainer Nijumoni Borah played a key role in conducting the programme, covering various aspects such as record-keeping, enterprise management, business dynamics, and hands-on sessions in facial makeup, bridal makeup, eyebrow shaping, skin toning, hair straightening, dressing, and eyelash extension.
The valedictory session witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Rajendra Perna (DDM, NABARD), Rajib Borah (SBI, Batadroba), Stuti Sarma (Assam Gramin Vikas Bank), and Pinky Saikia (ASRLM, CRP). Rajendra Perna highlighted the importance of MEDP programs in addressing skill gaps and optimising production activities for women SHG members.
As part of the training, participants had a day-long exposure visit to Mithi Beauty Parlour and Sahil Unisex Salon in Nagaon town, enriching their practical understanding of the beauty industry. Perna emphasised that the program aimed to upgrade both technical and entrepreneurial skills, enabling participants to either work in existing beauty parlors or start their own ventures.
The valedictory session, under the guidance of Mukut Deka, the secretary of Gramya Unnayan Sangstha, marked the culmination of the program that commenced on December 14, 2023.
