NAGAON, June 2: The flood situation in Nagaon district persisted unchanged on Sunday. It is reported that more than 150 villages within the Kampur, Nagaon, and Raha revenue circles are submerged in floodwaters as of the time of reporting.
According to sources, the Nagaon district administration has established over 25 relief camps across various locations in these three revenue circles. The fresh flood has affected over 2.5 lakh people in the district by Sunday. While the water levels in Kapili and Borpani rivers have slightly decreased, the Nishari river remains at a high level.
Tragically, on Sunday, a man named Dilip Das (45) lost his life near Kekuribari under the Kampur revenue circle. He was swept away by the overflowing Nishari river while observing the flood situation in the area, as per reports. In response, the SDRF and fire service personnel initiated an immediate search operation and later recovered his body.
The untimely demise of Dilip Das has enveloped the greater Kampur areas in sadness on Sunday afternoon.
