SIVASAGAR, April 1: Dr Pratim Sarmah, an associate professor of Dikhowmukh College and a regular columnist of The Assam Tribune, took over as the new principal of the premier institution of women’s education in Upper Assam, Sibsagar Girls’ College, on Monday from Utpala Gohain Samua, principal (i/c), in the presence of Jogesh Bora, president, governing body of the college.
Talking to the media persons on Monday morning, Dr Sarma spelled out his priorities in managing the academic activities and leading the college, pursuing guidelines set by the New Education Policy 2020. Jogesh Bora, present on the occasion, said that the college has faced a new problem following the government’s new guidelines to make the institutions co-educational, as the stakeholders may have different opinions. Dr Hemanta Phukan, former principal, also put in his suggestions while speaking on his efforts in improving the academic disciplines.
