GUWAHATI, Feb 27: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) in coordination with the Engineering Department, conducted a two-day anti-encroachment drive across multiple locations in Assam and West Bengal in February 2026.
The drives targeted areas between Nagrakata and Chalsa stations in Jalpaiguri, Dalgaon station yard in Alipurduar, near Mariani station in Jorhat and the stretch between Guwahati and Kamakhya stations in Kamrup (Metro). A total of 37 unauthorised structures and six cement pillars were removed, including 35 structures dismantled between Guwahati and Kamakhya stations.
The campaign aims to protect railway land, improve track visibility, enhance safety and prevent future encroachments, while curbing anti-social activities along railway tracks. NFR urged the public to avoid unauthorised occupation of railway property and support railway safety efforts.
