GUWAHATI, April 18: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has maintained a steady growth in loading of various commodities during the last fiscal year. In the last fiscal year, loading of 10.24 million tonnes (MT) of freight was achieved.
During the last fiscal year loading of food grain has increased by 19.7 per cent in comparison to 2022-23. Also, container loading has increased by 8 per cent during last year.
During the month of March this year the NFR zone has loaded 1.059 metric tonnes. During the month loading of few commodities have registered significant growth in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year. During the month, cement loading has increased by 35.2 per cent, which is 143.3 per cent higher than the target. POL loading has increased by 61.9 per cent while container loading increased by 15.4 per cent.
NFR is exploring all possible ways to boost the freight loading performance. Speedy execution of doubling works at its important sections has result in increased movement of essential and other commodities in addition to growth in freight loading.
