Noted physician and writer Dr Adhir Kumar Brahma passes away

KOKRAJHAR, May 11: Eminent physician and writer Dr Adhir Kumar Brahma passed away on Saturday morning at a private hospital in Bongaigaon. He was 68.

According to family sources, Dr Brahma had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past few days following a brief illness.

He breathed his last around 11 AM.

A resident of Baganshali in Kokrajhar, Dr Brahma served as the Superintendent and also held charge of the blood bank at the Kokrajhar Rup Nath Brahma Civil Hospital during his long and distinguished career.

He also served as the president of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Kokrajhar branch, and held several key positions within the health services department.

Dr Brahma was widely respected not only for his medical expertise but also for his contributions to Bodo literature.

A prolific writer, he authored numerous books, including poems inspired by his profession, and was an active member of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha.

His passing has been widely mourned across Kokrajhar and beyond.

Various social organisations, individuals, and members of the medical fraternity have expressed deep condolences, remembering his valuable contributions to both healthcare and literature.

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha also issued a heartfelt condolence message, mourning the loss of a revered figure who had made significant contributions to the cultural and intellectual fabric of the region.
