GUWAHATI, Sept 5: In a significant step towards fostering inclusive development in the Dima Hasao district, minister Pijush Hazarika led a high-profile meeting with representatives from the Indigenous People Forum (IPF) on Tuesday. The gathering, held at the Conference Hall of the Haflong Circuit House, aimed to address the concerns and aspirations of the indigenous communities in the region.
The group of ministers had previously initiated dialogue with the IPF to address their requests, with Tuesday’s meeting marking a pivotal moment in the commitment to host the next gathering in Dima Hasao.
During the meeting, a comprehensive discussion on various development matters took place, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the government and the IPF to ensure continued and sustained progress in the district.
Minister Pijush Hazarika emphasised the need for unity among various indigenous communities to avoid potential obstacles, such as protests and strikes, that could hinder or delay the district’s progress. He urged all stakeholders to work together towards a common goal of development and prosperity.
In addition to the meeting with the IPF, minister Hazarika held courtesy meetings with representatives from various organisations, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad, Dimasa Students’ Union, Jadikhe Naisho Hosom, and All Dimasa Students’ Union. During these interactions, he actively listened to their grievances and aspirations, demonstrating the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of all communities in Dima Hasao.
The Tuesday meetings have set a positive tone for future collaborations between the government and indigenous communities, with the hope of achieving comprehensive development and harmony in the region.
