BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 16: Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Sootea police, led by Shyamal Jyoti Saikia, officer-in-charge of Sootea PS, and Nabajit Das Baghri, dy SP (HQ), Biswanath, successfully apprehended a cannabis dealer identified as Bibek Nath on Sunday. The team recovered approximately 8 kgs of cannabis from his possession. According to the officer-in-charge, the police received information about the cannabis dealer and intercepted him at Khanaguri. Bibek Nath, who arrived from the Udalguri side, was apprehended with the cannabis intended for sale in the Sootea and Biswanath area. Bibek Nath is originally from Kharthebari, Barpeta. The market value of the recovered cannabis is approximately Rs 80 thousand, as stated by the police officer. Nath has been placed under arrest and further investigation is ongoing.
