Police seize Heroin and firearm in Bokajan crackdown

BOKAJAN, Jan 24: In a significant crackdown on narcotics and illegal arms trafficking, the Khatkhati Police intercepted a vehicle near the Lahorijan Nirmal Kumar Tea Estate on Saturday, seizing a substantial quantity of drugs and a firearm.

Acting on a specific tip-off, a police team led by Surjya Kumar Bora, Officer-in-Charge of Khatkhati Police Station, set up a checkpoint in the Lahorijan area. During the operation, officers intercepted a black Bolero (registration number NL 08 P 3324) traveling from the direction of Dimapur.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, police discovered illicit items hidden in a secret compartment. The recovery included 12 soap cases containing suspected heroin, weighing approximately 156 grams and one .22 caliber pistol along with six rounds of live ammunition.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Khehoto Aomi was immediately taken into custody.

During preliminary questioning, the accused revealed that he was transporting the consignment from Dimapur toward the Niuland area.

“We are committed to breaking the supply chain of illegal drugs and arms entering the region,” stated OC Surjya Kumar Bora. “The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the law, and further investigations are underway to identify broader links in this smuggling network.”

The seized contraband and the vehicle have been impounded and the suspect is currently being held for further interrogation at the Khatkhati Police Station.
