BOKAJAN, June 5: Acting on specific intelligence, the police led by SDPO Bokajan and John Das in Karbi Anglong recovered more than 1 kg of heroin from a vehicle. A car registered under AS 03 T 2397, was intercepted around 2 in the afternoon at Number 2 Forest Bridge under Barpather police station.
On a thorough search of the vehicle, the police found 89 soap cases filled with heroin, weighing 1 kg (104 gram). The contraband was hidden in the door panel of the car. The driver of the car, Paresh Mallik (49), a resident of Kachalukhowa village under Nagaon police station in Nagoan district, was arrested in this connection.
The contraband was brought from Dimapur, whose market value is Rs 6 crore.
